I know, i know - this is way too late. everyone has already shown all their christmas pictures. I mean the MLK,Jr. holiday is only a week away.
just ignore my lack of timeliness, and look anyway.....
3 of my favorite holiday shots.
the kids at church had their play december 23rd. it was held in our new fellowship building, even though we didn't have a CO (certificate of occupancy) at the time.
this fabulous event christened a facility we hope will host many such happenings for our congregation and the community. it's officially opening this weekend ( which is partially why i've had no time to blog - i'm overseeing furniture!)
anyway, the kids were wonderful- it was a full fledged production - lights, music, choreographed line dancing, you name it!!
our own little guy had a few lines and actually enjoyed singing the songs. he didn't suffer too much from stage fright, but it was his physical appearance at this event that i will remember most.
he hadn't had his hair cut in almost 2 months. for some people, that's not a big deal. for my little guy, it resulted in a bad case of shag carpet. at thanksgiving, his uncle had talked him into letting it grow to see how long it would get. it wasn't really long - just THICK and growing out in all directions!!
add a pair of cowboy boots that were too small and some khaki pants that were too short & too tight and you get this:
and while he did a great job with his debut stage appearance, a seven year old can only
stay focused for so long!
( at least he had some company!)
santa brought new boots, new pants, and a trip to the hairdresser. so outside those things changed. but i hope his insides always contain the feel of wonder that i fortunately captured here!
for this is the picture i will carry with me when i think about my little guy first starting to understand christmas and all its glory.
i guess i shouldn't complain too much. i'd be willing to bet jesus' hair was much longer!!
